Credit card companies are spending more money marketing to Pennsylvania college students, alumni, and employees than to those in at least 45 other states, according to a new survey. Between 2016 and 2020, four credit card companies spent more than $12 million on marketing agreements with 32 colleges, universities, and affiliated organizations in the commonwealth, according to travel website Upgraded Points' analysis of data from the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB). Of the 47 states with complete data, only California ranks higher than Pennsylvania in terms of money spent on college-related marketing, the analysis found.
