State College-area residents may be in for a particularly hot summer this year, according to an outlook from the National Weather Service and a prediction from the Farmers' Almanac. Most of Pennsylvania has a 40% to 50% likelihood of above-normal temperatures from May to July, according to the NWS Climate Prediction Center, but an eastern sliver of the state has about a 50% to 60% chance. Some parts of the commonwealth could experience more rain than usual, as well. Southern Pennsylvania residents have a 33% to 40% chance of above-normal precipitation from May to July, the NWS reports, while the northern region has equal chances of below- or above-average precipitation.
